Welcome back again to Generally Weekly. Every week or so we’ll try to send over a new record, an old record, a playlist, an item of note, and a bonus track. Please share if you dig.
A New Record
Liam Kazar - Due North - Our friends at Aquarium Drunkard hipped us to this record from KC via Chicago artist Liam Kazar last year, and we’ve been loving it ever since. Seriously, some of the best pop songs going right now. Major Robert Palmer vibes —always a plus. Listen and purchase below.
An Old Record
Kikagaku Moyo - House in the Tall Grass - This Japanese psychedelic outfit surprised us all last week, announcing that they are going on an “indefinite hiatus” after a final LP release and worldwide tour this year.
We have come to the conclusion that because we have truly achieved our core mission as a band, we would love to end this project on the highest note possible.
We respect the Barry Sanders sentiment, though we will miss their monstrous live performances once they hang it up. If you’ve never checked out the band, might we suggest their breakthrough 2016 album, House in the Tall Grass. A desert island record, no doubt, for this camp.
A New Generally Weekly
Featuring Kikagaku Moyo, Liam Kazar, Bleed Singers, Mikayla McVey, Hermeto Pascoal, Burl Ives, and more. Don’t you dare put it on shuffle.
Kikagaku Moyo - “Smoke and Mirrors” live at Autin Psychfest 2014
So fucking good. Bittersweet.
Bleed Singers - “Lifer”
Dig this new track, a quick hit of good time rock n roll from Bleed Singers. On repeat around here.
That’s it. Please share if you dig.
Is that Can in the video you wrote “So fucking good”?
